• 3D Systems to unveil polypropylene sintering material at DMS Expo
  3D Systems Corp. has announced that it will run a newly developed polypropylene-based material on its Sinterstation Pro SLS System at the Design Engineering & Manufacturing Solutions Expo (DMS) from June 25-27, 2008, in Tokyo, Japan.
• Manz Group acquires EUR4.5 million follow-on order
  The Manz Group has received a follow-on order with a volume of ~EUR4.5 million (~US$6.94 million) for second-generation laser cutting equipment to be used in the production of crystalline silicon solar wafers. The order is from a well-known manufacturer of products for the photovoltaics market.
• Cookson Electronics' Engineered Products Group launches NPI stencils initiative
  Cookson Electronics Assembly Materials is launching its "First-time-right" NPI (new product introduction) Stencils Initiative for its ALPHA branded "engineered products" (stencils) product line, with the goal of helping electronics assemblers and prototyping houses engaged in NPI assembly activity to reduce their NPI cycle times.
• New report says that ultrafast laser market to grow with new players, technology
  The ultrafast laser market will reach about $260 million in 2008 with healthy growth expected in coming years, fed by innovations in technology, new suppliers to the market, and some novel applications and strategies. These findings are published in a new technology and market report by Strategies Unlimited, Ultrafast Lasers--2008.
• New England Laser Processing acquires new leadership and focus
  New England Laser Processing, Danvers, MA, a job shop for precision laser cutting since 1988, has announced both new management and a new focus for its current and future customers.
• Northwest UAV Propulsion Systems purchases EOS laser sintering equipment
  EOS GmbH Electro Optical Systems, a manufacturer of laser sintering systems, has announced that Northwest UAV Propulsion Systems (NWUAV), an aerospace supplier, has purchased an EOSINT P 390 plastics laser-sintering machine. Northwest is using the equipment to produce high-quality aircraft components, including laser-sintered PA 2201 and PrimePart DC parts for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
• Oerlikon Space receives 2007 Supplier Award from Carl Zeiss
  As part of today's Suppliers' Day, Carl Zeiss SMT has honored the Zurich-based company Oerlikon Space with the 2007 Supplier Award for outstanding delivery and product performance. The Zurich company came out on top in the assessment of all Carl Zeiss SMT suppliers.
• LAI conducts Kaizen event to boost efficiency
  LAI International Inc., a strategic supplier of precision components and subassemblies for original equipment manufacturers, has completed a Kaizen event that has reduced the cycle time of a key process in the production of a gas turbine component by 58%.
• UK Photonics Cluster launches new collaborative program for R&D companies
  The UK Photonics Cluster has launched a unique initiative — the Collaborative Partner Program (CPP) — to support the development and success of research and development companies.
• Prima North America holds annual open house in Chicopee, MA
  Prima North America welcomed a substantial number of visitors to its annual open house held in the company's facility in Chicopee, MA. President Terry VanderWert opened the two day event commenting that, for this first time, four of the company's versatile laser sheet metal cutters were on display on their showroom floor.
