  • Millerbernd Laser adds welder, breaks ground for a welding center
    Millerbernd Laser, Winsted, MN, has added a cutting-edge robotic technology system that will help meet its high-production volumes by making them more efficient, reliable, streamlined, and cost effective. To accommodate the addition of the new robotics system, the company announced the expansion of their 80,000-sq. ft. manufacturing facility by adding a 14,000-sq. ft. state-of-art welding center.
  • Rofin laser wins design award at CeBIT
    The Rofin DQ series of lasers (see photo) manufactured by Rofin-Sinar Laser GmbH were awarded the iF Design Award at the recent CeBIT information technology trade fair in Hannover, Germany. More than 2700 products from 35 countries were asked to be considered for the prestigious award whose recipients are determined by an international jury of experts.
  • 3D Systems collaborates with 3M to offer dental model production
    3D Systems Corporation, a provider of 3D Modeling, Rapid Prototyping and Manufacturing solutions, today announced it will collaborate with 3M ESPE to offer compatibility between the 3M ESPE Lava Scan ST Design System and 3D Systems' high-volume dental printing systems for seamless digital production of dental wax-ups.

    At a recent meeting in Frankfurt, Germany, a group of photovoltaic suppliers agreed to establish the International Photovoltaic Equipment Association.
  • Huffman Corp. sells laser powder fusion welding system to Mitsubishi
    Huffman Corp., Clover, SC, has announced the sale of a dual capacity multi-axis laser powder fusion welding system to Mitsubishi Power Systems Americas Inc. (MPSA), Orlando, FL, with delivery in 2008. This system offers Laser Powder Fusion welding (a/k/a cladding) for restoration of tips, Z-notches, and other wear surfaces on turbine components like blades, vanes, and shrouds.

    3D Systems Corporation, a provider of 3D modeling, rapid prototyping and manufacturing solutions, announced today that it has launched a material evaluation Web site equipped with online pricing capability that may be used to order non-commercial Stereolithography (SLA) and Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) parts.

  • EOS files patent infringement lawsuit against MCP in the US
    EOS GmbH Electro Optical Systems, a manufacturer of laser-sintering systems, today announced that it has filed a patent infringement lawsuit in the US District Court, South Carolina, against MCP Tooling Technologies Ltd. and MCP-HEK Tooling GmbH. The lawsuit alleges infringement of US Patent No. 5,753,171 through the manufacture, sale, and use of the Realizer product line from MCP in the US.
  • Cymer demonstrates 25W of avg. EUV power for 1.5 hours, completes facility
    Cymer Inc., a supplier of light sources used in semiconductor lithography, announced this week at the Sematech EUV Source Workshop in New York that it has reached a milestone 25W of average extreme ultraviolet (EUV) power continuously for 1.5 hours, and is on track to achieve the 100W of average power needed for the first-scheduled delivery of production-ready EUV lithography tools in 2009.
