Powerlase Ltd. has announced that the Extreme Ultraviolet Lithography System Development Association (EUVA) has made a further purchase of its Starlase AO8 lasers. The lasers will be used by the EUVA for continued research into next-generation semiconductor manufacturing.

ESI receives multisystem order from China's Hangzhou Silan Azure Corp.
ESI's New Wave Research (NWR) Division has received a multiple-system order from Hangzhou Silan Azure Corp. Ltd. for its AccuScribe 2112 laser-scribing equipment. China-based Silan Azure?a manufacturer of full-color LED chips?will use the AccuScribe systems to expand production capacity for its high-volume, HB-LED applications.

Senate science funding support lauded by optics community
A recent letter sent to the Senate Appropriations Committee by eight US senators for $350 million in additional science funding is being applauded by SPIE members and others in the optics industry. The letter asks for additional current-year funding of $250 million for the DOE Office of Science and $100 million for the National Science Foundation, said Richard M. Johnson of the American Institute of Physics.

Prism Electronics designs, manufactures PCBs for GSI Group's fiber laser
Prism Electronics, St Ives, Cambridgeshire, UK, has used its engineering skills to assist GSI Group, a Rugby-based laser manufacturing company, to break into the growing fiber laser products market. Prism has helped design and manufacture a number of printed circuit boards (PCBs) that are central to GSI's new fiber laser, which is now being rolled out to selected GSI Group customers.
