• Zygo to merge with ESI in transaction worth $173.5M
  Electro Scientific Industries, Inc. (ESI; Portland, OR) and Zygo Corp. (Middlefield, CT) have entered into a definitive agreement under which the companies will merge in an all-stock transaction worth ~$173.5 million.
• International workshop on fiber lasers coming Nov. 5-6
  The Fraunhofer IWS and the Fraunhofer IOF in cooperation with the European Photonics Industry Consortium (EPIC) are putting the final touches on preparations for the 4th International Workshop on Fiber Lasers, which will take place on November 5-6 at the International Congress Centre in Dresden, Germany.

  PRIMA North America, Inc., the North American subsidiary of PRIMA INDUSTRIES S.p.A., Torino, Italy, a manufacturer of industrial laser systems, has announced the appointment of Bruce C. Polson to the position of Western Regional Sales Manager in the US for LASERDYNE SYSTEMS.
